Who we are

GaneshEdit is built and run by Krishna. It started from a simple frustration: small everyday jobs - joining two PDFs, making a file small enough to email, turning a PDF into an editable document - kept leading to sites that ask you to sign up, add a watermark, or stop working halfway unless you pay.

The name comes from Ganesh - Lord Ganesha, who is remembered as the remover of obstacles - and Edit, which is what the site helps you do. That is the whole idea: take a small obstacle out of your day.

What the site does

There are currently 27 free tools for PDF files: merging, splitting, compressing, converting to and from Word, Excel and images, converting to PowerPoint, editing, signing, protecting, and repairing damaged files. You can upload files of up to 50 MB.

There is also a separate set of video and audio tools - Video to MP3, Compress Video, Video to GIF and MP3 Cutter - which run entirely on your own device, so your videos are never uploaded. The image tools, starting with Photos to Video, work the same way.

What we promise

  • Free, with no signup. No account, no email address, no watermark on your result.
  • Your files are not kept. A file is deleted from the server as soon as the tool finishes, and anything left behind by an unfinished task is deleted automatically within a few hours. The privacy policy explains exactly what happens.
  • Honest about limits. When a tool can't do something well - a heavily designed Word file won't look pixel-identical as a PDF, and a drawn signature is not a certificate-based digital signature - the tool page says so plainly.
  • No fake numbers. You won't find invented user counts or ratings on this site.
